.Kasi Funfair to round off with a musical bang
From Fair to Concert The Kasi Funfair heralds a new era of family fun right into the heart of Soweto, and, on its closing day, revelers in their late teens and upwards will be afforded a concert second to none. “Dorothy Nyembe Park will never be the same again,” smiles organiser, Nomsa Sibeko. She adds “We’ve lined up a star-studded programme of performers that will keep partygoers on the boil from early afternoon until way after the sun’s gone down!” People will be pleased to hear that Sidas Security has been brought in to make sure that antisocial elements aren’t allowed to spoil anyone’s fun. Says a company spokesperson, “It’s the public’s business to enjoy themselves, and it’s our business to see to it that nobody disrupts that enjoyment. We are taking a ‘Zero Tolerance’ approach.” Diarise the Date! Sunday April 3rd is when the action goes down – and, in case you haven’t heard who’s going to be on stage, then listen up! Amongst the headline acts is DJ Euphonik, one of South Africa's most successful young dance DJs, who has a legendary reputation as a crowd-pleaser, both in clubs and on the air. Khuli Chana will be bringing his own flavour of ‘vernacular rap’, or Motswako. Borrowing elements from various musical backgrounds, Motswako uses street-talk to convey important messages to the youth, and it does so in various South African languages. Fans will also get the chance to “Shake Your Bum Bum” with the wildly popular Black Coffee, featuring Zakes Bantwini, who will perform this and other hits. Add to the mix Proffesa, Pro Kid, DJ Zinhle, DJ KG, DJ Tokzen, DJ Toyoter – and others – and you can see that standing still will not be an option! The concert starts at 2pm and runs right the way through to 10pm. Be there! PLEASE NOTE: Guests are reminded that no food or drinks may be brought into the venue. Bars will be available for the purchasing of beer or cooldrinks, and numerous hot food vendors will keep hunger from the door! *** Please note that tickets will not be sold at the gate. They will be available at Spar stores, as well as designated service stations, in the area. For queries, consult www.eqtickets.com, or the call centre at 087 980 3000.
